Travel to the Iguazu Falls the Imaginative Traveller way!
The Iguazu Falls are arguably the most impressive waterfalls in the world and one of the highlights of any adventure holiday to South America. Set amidst dramatic rainforest scenery, they are split between Argentina and Brazil. Our adventure tours visit both sides of the falls for breathtaking panoramic views and offer the option to take a boat trip up to the Devil's Throat at the very base. Whether it is part of a longer multi-country tour or our 3 day Amazing Iguazu extension, the chance to get up close to the Iguazu Falls is bound to be a highlight of any adventure holiday to South America!
Iguazu Falls Facts
Iguazu is 20 metres higher than Niagara Falls and carries more than twice as much water
The water cascades over the edge of a 2.5 kilometre-wide plateau in 275 separate waterfalls
Eleanor Roosevelt famously exclaimed 'Poor Niagara' during her visit here
In the language of the local Guarani Indian, the name 'Iguazu' literally means 'great waters'
The falls have featured in many films including 'The Mission' and the most recent Indiana Jones
The mist created by the falls forms almost permanent rainbows and keeps the surrounding rainforest lush
Itineraries
Our itineraries reflect 20 years of experience and client and tour leader feedback. They include overland expeditions, wildlife holidays, cultural tours, treks, cruises, tour extensions, honeymoon and tailor-made tours.
Inca Trail Treks
An experienced, English-speaking trek leader accompanies every trekking group in Peru as well as a team of porters and cooks who have enjoyed many years working with our groups. A kitbag and sleeping mat are also provided. The Lares Trek is offered as an alternative should permits be unavailable for the classic Inca Trail.
Galapagos Cruises
Our Galapagos adventure holidays use small private motor yachts (8 twin berth air-conditioned cabins with private facilities). This allows for a more intimate experience and better wildlife opportunities (no queues at landings thus more time on shore)
Grassroots travel
Stay with people you've only read about, visit places few have seen and use a variety of local transport to really experience the culture. In South America we use local buses, overnight trains, canoes, cruise boats, ferries and take a trip along the Devil's Nose Railway.
Local leaders
They're from the country we're visiting so speak the language, understand the culture, know the history and are passionate about their homeland. They'll provide insights that you would never discover independently.
Flexibility and Fun
Our small group adventure tours offer security and companionship with the freedom and flexibility for you to make your own discoveries.
Value
Affordable adventure holidays with plenty of inclusions and NO single supplements for solo travellers.
Small Groups
Small numbers have less impact on the environment and offer more chance for cultural interaction.
Responsible Travel
At the heart of ALL our adventure and activity holidays to South America. By using local leaders and small, locally owned hotels and restaurants we ensure that the economic benefits derived from your holiday remain with the communities that you visit. We specifically support Peru's Challenge, which helps bring economic benefits to poor communities throughout Peru, and Galapagos Conservancy, which is dedicated to raising funds and awareness of conservation in the Galapagos.
You may only travel to South America once so make the most of it on an authentic and affordable adventure holiday with Imaginative Traveller
