“When I left for my Beachcomber tour to Thailand I had no idea about Thai people and the culture of the smile. I was introduced to it before I had even left the UK with the flight attendants on Thai Airways – they were so friendly and I was impressed by their ever-present glowing smiles!
Thailand is widely known as the “Land of Smiles” and for good reason. The smile is a very important and a complex form of communication and while you are on your tour in Thailand the sight of smiling Thai people will be a very common one.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Bangkok, also known as Krung Thep, or when translated literally, ‘The City Of Angels’. With tourist attractions ranging from awe-inspiring temples and glinting palaces to high-end shopping malls and a pulsating nightlife, it promised to be a truly worthy holiday destination – and it lived up to its reputation!
Khao Sok National Park in Southern Thailand is an amazing place. It is covered by the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world, huge limestone mountains shooting straight up in the air, deep valleys, breathtaking lakes, exciting caves, wild animals and much more. .
Khao Sok was a particular highlight for me. Elephant trekking, hiking, canoeing and jeep safaris are all possible activities, which will give you the experience of a lifetime.
Whether it's sea kayaking, diving, rock climbing, snorkelling, jungle trekking, cooking, elephant trekking, white water rafting and quad biking or lazing on the beach, you can do it all from here!
Rai Leh Beach was amazing! A backpacker’s paradise, we stayed here for two nights and if I’m honest I didn’t want to leave. The only way to get around is by foot as there are no cars or bikes - such a nice feeling of freedom.
The Phi Phi Island Speedboat Cruise must be the best way to see Maya Beach (where the movie ‘The Beach’ was filmed). It was an early start but it was well worth it!
I didn’t know quite what to expect for the beach camping. We arrived in our longtail boat to what looked like a deserted island. However my eyes had not deceived me - it really was pretty much deserted! The island consisted of four tents and a large hut where our dinner would be cooked and served.
Within 10 minutes of being on the island we found ourselves playing football with the locals. This was another major highlight for me. The locals immediately made us feel right at home and had us taking part in some Thai drinking games -which then led to a very serious Thai boxing match…
The Beachcomber tour is perfect for anyone wanting to experience Southern Thailand at a relaxed pace. It really was the experience of a lifetime.”
